The two official help pages use slightly different wording around the four-hour boundary. Keep the export below that boundary and inspect the upload result instead of building a preset exactly at the maximum.
A practical export preset
- Container and codecs: MP4, H.264 video and AAC audio.
- Canvas: 1920×1080 for landscape, or 1008×1792 for this conservative vertical example.
- Frame rate: use 30 fps for a 30 fps source. Decide deliberately before converting other source rates.
- Video bitrate: start around 6–12 Mbps for a clean 1080p-class source, then compare a short difficult section.
- Audio: 48 kHz AAC, with a moderate speech or music bitrate.
Bitrate changes the file size; it does not guarantee what X delivers to a viewer. Inspect the uploaded version after processing. Keep the original master for reuse elsewhere.
Worked example: estimate size before re-encoding
A fictional 30-second export at 8 Mbps video plus 192 kbps audio is approximately (8 + 0.192) × 30 ÷ 8 = 30.72 MB before container overhead. This arithmetic is an estimate, not an observed X upload. Inspect the saved file size, since variable bitrate and metadata can change the result.

Why a technically valid file can still disappoint
Fine text may become unreadable after processing. A phone recording may use variable frame rate and need a controlled export. Noise and fast motion can need more data than a static talking head.
